Kent State University offers both an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree for X-ray techs on its Salem campus. They claim to have a 99.4% pass rate for the ARRT exam in recent years. The University of Cincinnati’s Raymond Walters College has a two year radiologic technology program. They will switch to selective admission in 2016. Central Ohio Technical College offers a two year program. Students needing more flexibility can take it in three years. The cheapest college with an X-ray tech program is Lorain County Community College and the most expensive is Xavier University.

How To Get Certified in Ohio

X-ray technicians in Ohio have to apply to get licensed by the Ohio Department of Health. The department offers four different types of licenses, which are radiation therapist, nuclear medicine technologist, general X-ray operator, and radiographer. People just pass the American Registry of X-Ray Technicians’ exam and pay an initial fee of $65 to be licensed. Nuclear medicine technologist must take a different exam. To renew their licenses, X-ray technicians must pay a $45 fee and complete 12 credits of continuing education.
