Top X-Ray Technician Schools in Idaho

There are five colleges in Idaho that offer accredited radiography programs. The first is the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. It has a five semester program that includes clinical rotations and has the lowest price per year. North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene has a two year program. Students must complete a personal interview to apply. Idaho State University in Pocatello offers both an Associate, which takes three years, and a Bachelor’s degree, which takes four years. Boise State University boasts a 100% pass rate for their students taking the ARRT exam, but it is the most expensive college. Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston has a program that only accepts 18 students a year.

How To Get Certified in Idaho

The state of Idaho does not have specific licensing or certification requirements for X-ray technicians to work in the state, but X-ray tech employers strongly prefer to hire people who have passed the American Registry of X-Ray Technicians’ exam and become certified by the ARRT. Certification by the ARRT must be renewed every two years. To do this, X-ray techs must pay a fee and complete 24 continuing education credits. ARRT certification is good in all U.S. states, if the person also meets state requirements.
